What is the Grants Program?
The Grants Program is the cornerstone of the Livingston Education Foundation’s mission to enrich education in the Livingston Public Schools. It is designed to put money directly into the hands of classroom teachers for innovative and creative programs that will have a direct impact on the students.
Specific goals include:
- Supporting and encouraging teachers to infuse new elements of creativity into their classrooms.
- Encouraging teachers to strengthen ties between the classrooms, other teachers, parents, students and the larger community.
- Providing funds for projects to enhance student learning that would otherwise not be possible within the district budget
- Helping teachers extend students learning beyond the limitations of textbooks.
Who is Eligible?
- All full or part-time teachers employed by the Livingston School District are eligible to apply for Enrichment Grants. Support personnel, students, parents, administrators and community members are encouraged to partner with teachers, though they may not submit a grant as the primary applicant.
- Any non-teacher who is being paid as part of a grant will supply to the Project Coordinator evidence of material/hours completed. The same Project Coordinator is responsible for submitting the materials/hours to the business office.
- Applicants may apply as individuals or as part of a group. Educators within specific grades as well as across grade levels, subject and schools are encouraged to collaborate.
- Applicants are allowed to be the Project Coordinator for only one grant per grant cycle, however they can participate in other grants in that same cycle.
NOTE: If a grant recipient transfers within the district during the grant period, the funding may, upon approval by school principal, travel with the teacher. If a grant recipient leaves the district, the funding will be left either with the school or revert back to the Foundation. The decision will be made by the school principal and based on the ability of the school to continue the project.
